Take Control of Your Marketing

It’s Time to Take Control of Your Marketing

About six months ago, I was having a phone call with a client. She’s a retailer in Toronto and had just started getting involved on Twitter. She asked me if I could send her some resources to help her learn how to make Twitter work for her. The more research I did, the more I realized that there aren’t very many resources out there for the small business owner who isn’t a marketing expert.

Shortly after that conversation, I resolved to start my own resource. Welcome to Local Magnet.

My aim here is very simple. I want to teach you, the small business owner, how to market your business online by yourself. I’ve worked with small businesses for years – I understand the lack of budget and the need to do it yourself. Your business is your baby and you don’t trust it in someone else’s hands. As a small business owner myself, I get that.

I’ve been working online for 10 years. The web has changed so much during that time and keeping up-to-date is a challenge. I read a number of marketing, social media, web development and search engine optimization blogs on a daily basis to keep up. One thing all these resources have in common is that they’re aimed at professionals like me – people who work with businesses as outside consultants.

Local Magnet won’t teach you how to become a marketing consultant. It will teach you how to market your business online.

On Local Magnet, we’ll be teaching four principles of local online marketing:

  1. How to dominate your niche in local search results.
  2. How to turn web visitors into store visitors or service purchasers.
  3. How to turn one-time customers into repeat customers.
  4. How to turn repeat customers into fans that will recommend you to their friends.

We’ll be posting a few articles a week – covering topics such as how to rank highly on the search engines, starting on Twitter, or running your own Google AdWords campaign. We know that there’s a range of experience out there, so each of our topics will be tagged beginner, intermediate, or expert. Finally, we know that your time is precious, so we’ll keep the articles short and to the point, with specific actions that you can implement right away for your business.

If you have questions, suggestions for topics, or would just like to get in touch, comment below, or contact me. On the right, there’s a few methods you can use to keep updated on our site – choose whichever makes the most sense for your schedule.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to visit Local Magnet. I hope that you’ll join us again soon.
